Itinerary Overview
Your journey begins with an early morning pickup by a professional Wildsteps Safaris guide, either from your hotel or the airport. You will travel in comfort aboard our 4x4 safari vehicle, departing from Kampala and heading towards the southwestern regions of Kabale and Kisoro. Along the way, you will enjoy spectacular views of Uganda’s picturesque countryside, including glimpses of traditional village life and lush tea plantations.
A highlight of the drive is a stop at the Equator, where you can capture memorable photos as you stand between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The journey continues with a lunch break at Igongo Hotel and Museum in Mbarara City, providing an opportunity to relax and refuel. Upon arrival at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will check into your accommodation, where you can unwind and prepare for the adventure-filled day ahead.
Overnight: Rushaga Gorilla Leisure Safari Lodge or similar
Travel Time: 8-9 hours Meals: Full board
After enjoying an early breakfast, you will proceed to the Rushaga Uganda Wildlife Authority offices for an informative briefing session. Here, you will be grouped with other trekkers and assigned to experienced forest rangers and guides as you embark on your Gorilla Trekking experience. The trek typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours and offers the chance to encounter a variety of wildlife endemic to the park, including unique bird species, forest hogs, forest elephants, and the rare Bongo antelope. You may also spot several primate species, such as the red-tailed monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys, and occasionally, families of chimpanzees.
Once you locate the Gorilla family, you will have the extraordinary opportunity to spend an hour observing them closely, capturing photographs and videos of their remarkable behaviors—traits that are strikingly similar to those of humans.
After the trek, you will return to your accommodation for lunch. In the evening, you can participate in a cultural experience with the Batwa community, providing a chance to relax and reflect on the day’s incredible encounters.

On your final morning, enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting off for Kampala or the airport. You will pause for lunch in Mbarara City before continuing to Entebbe Airport for your departure, carrying with you unforgettable memories and a newfound longing for more adventures with Wildsteps Safaris in Uganda.
