5 Days Primates safari in Uganda
This 5 days primates safari in Uganda covers two national parks of Bwindi and Mgahinga and the major activities are gorilla and golden monkey trekking. These are the only national parks where gorillas are trekked in Uganda. This tour is suitable for primates’ lovers and you can enjoy it as a couple, group or even solo traveler.
Bwindi is a home of primates including the famous mountain gorillas and it is also a home of more than 350 bird species, 310 butterfly species, 51 reptiles, 200 trees, frogs and 120 mammal species. Bwindi is one of the most diverse forests in Africa with more than 200 tree species.
Gorilla Trekking is the major activity in Bwindi and you will also have nature walk experience in the forests to appreciate the above mentioned biodiversity.
Mgahinga gorillas’ national park is 33.7 Km Sq and thus the smallest national park in Uganda but rich in diversity. It is also a destination for gorilla trekking and golden monkey trekking. This is the only park where gold meets silver due to the presence of golden monkeys and mountain gorillas (silverback).

Day1; Arrival and Hotel Transfer in Entebbe city
On your arrival, at the airport, the assigned guide will welcome you and brief you about your 5 days primates safari in Uganda and then drive you to your hotel in Entebbe town for dinner and overtime.
Day2; Morning transfer to Bwindi impenetrable via Equator line
On this day two of your safari, you will wake up and enjoy your breakfast and then start off the journey to Bwindi. You will have two major stopovers, one in Kayabwe at the equator line for photo moment and experiments and then lunch stopover in Igongo cultural center in Mbarara city.
You will then [proceed to Bwindi the home of gorillas where you will check in at your lodge for dinner and good sleep as you prepare for the tracking day.
Day3: Gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi and transfer to Mgahinga
You will wake up and have early morning breakfast then go for briefing at the starting point of tracking. You will then proceed to the tracking adventure in the forests in search of gorillas. Locating the gorillas in their natural habitats depends on where they are feeding from. Upon spotting the gentle giants, you will spend one full hour with them and this is an experience of the lifetime. You will need to go with packed snacks and drinking water, to trail in the bamboo forests of Bwindi.
After this amazing experience, you will return to your lodge for lunch and get some rest and in the evening you will transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park.
Day4: Golden Monkey trekking and hiking Mgahinga
You will enjoy your coffee and get ready for golden monkey trekking experience in the mountains of Mgahinga. Golden monkeys are endangered monkey species as they are only found in the Virunga volcanic mountains. Therefore you can trek them in only Mgahinga, in Uganda, Volcanoes in Rwanda and Virunga national park in Congo.
After trekking, you will return to your lodge for lunch and simple relaxation. You will then embark on trailing experience with the Batwa local guides. These locals will take you through the slopes of mount Gahinga demonstrating the skills they used when they were staying in these forested mountains.
Day5; Transfer back to Entebbe international airport
On this last day of your 5 days of primates safari in Uganda, you will checkout from your lodge in Mgahinga and embark on your trip back to Entebbe. On your road trip, you will wave goodbye to the beautiful sceneries and terraces in Kisoro and Kabale in western Uganda. You will have a stopover for lunch and proceed to the airport or your hotel depending on your flight.
